An Awesome Weekend!
Although this past weekend was one of the busiest all year for our family, it was also one of the most exciting! Black Friday shopping was very productive. It looks like we are actually finished. Well, for our kids anyway. And just for the record, I sampled coffee drinks from (both St. Joe) Starbucks, Nordstrom (at Oak Park Mall), and two other establishments (that will remain anonymous), and the OASIS beats them all hands down!
Our annual Turkey Bowl was bigger than ever this year with over 30 students, young adults, and parents participating, and another half dozen watching. I do, however, want to apologize to Isaac, Cody, Dave, and Ethan for the unsportsman like conduct of one of the young adults toward you guys. I'm sorry that I didn't catch it and step in. Not that winning is everything, but you guys did lead your team to victory in spite of it. I'm proud of you for that.
Our annual Christmas scavenger hunt was a huge success as well. With a group of more than 40, we scattered throughout the mall searching for clues and singing songs to complete strangers. It's a shame we didn't have video of our guys attempting to convince a saleswoman at Foot Locker that they wanted to try on a pair of girls shoes, all while pretending to be deaf. In case you haven't heard, Beka's team was victorious! That means that Steven Gregory, Rebekah Overly, Nicole Critchfield, and Brennon Calvin will receive 10 bonus tickets for a chance to win the $100 cash prize on Wednesday night!
Sunday services were a blast as well. The morning worship was hoppin' and then Pastor Tim challenged us about winning and loosing and how we can walk in the winners blessing. Sunday evening we had our first Base 4 seminar for the Diamond of Development where we learned to embrace our mission of taking the gospel to everyone everywhere.
