Speed The Light!

Speed the Light (STL) is the student-initiated ministry that provides transportation and communications equipment to missionaries across the nation and in over 150 countries around the world. This year, our students have raised approximately $7,000 for STL!!

Wednesday, November 16th, we hosted our annual STL banquet and celebrated how God has used us to help reach people around the world. We ate some incredible ethnic foods from about a dozen various countries. Missionary Heather Chowning was our guest and she shared how STL is helping her and her husband Mike to reach the people in Tuva, Siberia. In a land of sub-zero temperatures, common food shortages, and isolation, Michael and Heather minister with a message of hope to Tuva, Siberia. Their primary focus is on planting churches where believers can gather for the fellowship and whorship they so desperately need.

We ended our evening by recieving an offering of over $170 dollars and a challenge to consider making a pledge to STL for the year 2006. After adding up the numbers, we have more than $7,700.00 in faith promises for $2006!

One final exciting thing that we did was to announce the location of this coming summer's mission trip. Every banquet table was decorated to represent a different country that we would possibly travel to this summer to minister. The student were estatic as we informed them that Copenhagen, Denmark was our destination! The trip dates are July 10-17, 2006. We don't have a bugget approved as of yet, we will inform you of the total cost of the trip wth a payment schedule as soon as it is finalized.
