Winter Blast 2006

Although it’s been in the 40’s and even 50’s the whole week prior, it went way below freezing and snowed this past weekend in Nebraska for Grace Evangelical’s annual youth Winter Blast. Despite the weather and lack of heat in the guys “bunkers”, everyone seemed to have a great time.

Ian, our worship leader from Central Bible College, did a fantastic job of leading us into the presence of God with some exciting and heartfelt songs! The students responded with hands lifted high and voices raised to their loving Father. It was a beautiful sight indeed.

The weekend was based on the words of John the Baptist from John 3:30, “He must become greater, I must become less.” I was honored to preach both evenings concerning this revolutionary thinking that John introduced to us. As the Message transliteration puts it, “This is my assigned moment for him to move into the center, while I slip off to the sidelines.” In a time of self gratification and living for the moment like today, this is, even in it’s simplest form, a revolutionary concept. (I’ll be sharing more of this in the next few days on this blog.)

We were blessed to have some great altar times of prayer and commitment where Pastor Ken and the other youth leaders were able to pray and council with the students. Around eight courageous students gave their hearts to the Lord the first night. However, the altars were packed with students making commitments to the revolution both nights. I was blessed to be a part of this momentous event.

I also enjoyed the free time and evenings games. “I never” was a unique game to say the least. What I want to know is, even if you did “lick a frog” at one time in your life, why on earth would you admit it? There were some other things that the students admitted to during that game that were down right hilarious! The “Poor Man’s Karaoke was a riot as well. Although Jordan Did anyone get video of that? won first place, they were all very entertaining.

Enjoy the pictures. Check back over the next few days for more pictures and revolutionary information.
