Bitterness Always Feels Justified

Instead of bitterness, Jesus chose forgiveness. He calls us to do the same not only for the sake of others but for the salvation of our own souls. When we are free from bitterness, we are free to pursue the life God dreams for us.

Try to live at peace with all people, and try to live free from sin. Anyone whose life is not holy will never see the Lord. Be careful that no one fails to receive God's grace and begins to cause trouble among you. A person like that can ruin many of you." (Hebrews 12:14-15 NCV)

When we embrace bitterness, we reject grace. Bitterness destroys our relationship, impairs our judgment, skews our perspective, and distorts our memories.

Gratitude generates optimism. The grace of God not only frees us from sin but from pessimism. When you trust God with your future, hope naturally abounds. Gratitude changes your perspective about life. You see the future, experience the present, and remember the past in a dramatically different way. Remember the good and the good will grow.
