Heart Condition (E3 camp, Jeffery Portmann)

In Mark chapter four (4) we see the parable of the sower. A parable is simply an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. In this story Jesus was attempting to share with his listeners the importance of our heart condition. Our heart is like the soil in this story. The seed is the Word of God. Check out the story for yourself before reading on.

1. The Path: exposed and susceptible to outside influence
"The birds came and ate it (the seed) up."

2. Rocky Places: shallow and immature, lacking in soil...folds under pressure
"...they withered because the had no root."

3. Thorns: having a foot in both worlds, duplicity (Romans 7:14-17)
"choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain."

4. Good (fertile) Soil: ground that was good and ready
"gre and produced a crop multiplying thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times."

So how do we make sure that our heart is in the right condition to grow and produce fruit.
1. Listen to the truth.
2. Think about the truth.
3. Believe the truth.
4. Live the truth.

What is your heart condition today? Have you planted the seed of God's Word in your heart today? Are you listening, thinking, believing and living the TRUTH?
