Reality: Storms Will Come

Storms are a part of life, just like hurricanes are a part of nature. Some years we may not have any that hit our shores (1993, 1994, 2001). Other years may be record breaking (2004 had 6 in 2 months).

Storms come and go. Whether it's Katrina pounding Mississippi & Louisiana, or the storm of your parents going through a divorce, or failing 9th grade, or the storm of being tempted to have sex before marriage. We all go through storms.

The reality is you and I will both go through storms. They will differ in longevity and vary in intensity. Gaston only made it to a category 1 hurricane, but Katrina made it to a category 5 destroying everything in it's path! Our storms are equally destructive at times.

Some of you look at school as a storm in your life. Maybe you struggle academically. Maybe your not part of the "in crowd". Maybe you even get picked on because you're different or because you're a Christian.

Many people have gone before us and have endured hardship and persecution. The Prophets, Job, Peter, Mark Buntain, Rachel Scott, Cassie Burnel, the list goes on of those who have stayed the course through all the trials and challenges. We can make it through the storm! Not even Hurricane Katrina can stop us!

"Take the old prophets as your mentors. They put up with anything, went through everything, and never once quit, all the time honoring God. What a gift life is to those who stay the course! You've heard, or course, of Job's staying power, and you know how God brought it all together for him at the end. That's because God cares, cares right down to the last detail." (James 5:10-11 The Message)

Tonight @ RSM we will be encouraged to stay the course. We will see that those who stay steady and on course are those who find ... I'll tell you tonight @ 7PM.
