Reality: Rain Has A Purpose Too
Back in 2004, six different hurricanes hit our shores in two month span killing 36 people and causing over 42 billion dollars worth of damage. Unfortunately, Katrina has done more damage all by herself this past week. The death tolls is still rising and we can't even begin to assess the billions of dollars worth of damage as so much of New Orleans is still under water.
If this doesn't test our faith, I don't know what will. So many are suffering. So much has been lost. Some are even getting aggressive and violent as they loose their patience wondering why this tragedy has fallen on them and when will they be rescued.
I know of a Godly man who received word that all his material wealth and possessions had been lost. That same day, in fact only moments later, he then received word that his seven sons and three daughters where killed as the wind struck so violently that the house collapsed on top of them killing everyone. It's a true story. He's a man from the Bible named Job.
Paul tells us in Romans 5:3-4, "We glory in tribulation also; knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope."
Patience is not passive acceptance of our situations. Patience is courageous perseverance in the face of suffering and difficulty. Patience comes as we trust in God and surrender our life to Him. Everything has a purpose...even the rain.
Join us on Sunday, September 4th, as Pastor Tim delivers a special message concerning this new national tragedy. Here is a brief description of our topic.
Once again, in our lifetime, we are forced to deal with a major disaster in the United States. Politicians and analysts are painting bleak images of what the future holds. So, what does the Bible say? What are the prophets saying? How can we help? How do we cope with the emotional and financial fallout? I will attempt to address these questions and others in this special, impromptu message responding the Hurricane Katrina disaster. Invite a friend, as Pastor Tim speaks to the issues that are gripping the heart of our nation.
