Reality: You Can Live Forever

That's right, you were meant to live forever. I know that statistics tell us that the average life-span of a man is about 72 years. Women, however, stick around a little longer. They're average life-span is about 74 years. Somehow that just doesn't seem fair. Hey, that's life. Then how is it that I am telling you that you can live forever?

As we've noted in a previous blog, life is fleeting. It's here today, gone tomorrow. Solomon, the wisest man ever, even said, "for death is the destiny of every man". However, that's speaking of life and death as pertaining to the physical body. Our spirit lives beyond the passing of our body. That is how we live forever. (Read what Paul says about this in 1 Corinthians 15.)

The coolest thing about living forever is that we get to choose how! You heard me. YOU get to choose how you will live out your eternity - not mom or dad, not your teachers, not your friends, not your Pastor. The reality is that it's your choice.

So what are the choices? Again the answer is cool and simple. You can live out your eternity in one of two places: the glorious mansions in heaven, or the fiery caves of hell. Simple choice right?

If you were to die today and see both options displayed before you, of course you would choose to live in a huge peaceful mansion rather than a sulfur smelling burning tomb. It's pretty much a no-brainer. The problem is, once you're dead you don't get to choose anymore. Why? Because, you already made your choice.

"When did I make my choice?", you might be thinking. Well, you've made your choice by the way you live your life. The reality is that the choices you make while you are alive determine how you will live out your eternity. If you choose to live for God according to His standards, then your choice for eternity is the mansion in heaven. If you choose to live for yourself by setting your own standards, then your choice for eternity is the fiery caves of hell.

The reality is everyone dies. The reality is your spirit will live forever. The reality is you choose in life how you will spend your eternity. Choose heaven. Choose to live for God. If I can help you in making that choice, please email me rnelmes@caringfirst.org or call (816)279-6422.
