Amazing Race: Seriously 2!
A Serious Need for Workers
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the Harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Luke 10:2)
Here we see a serious need for us to not just go after the harvest, but to also pray for more harvesters! When we share our faith and someone responds in salvation, we add another soul who will spend eternity in Heaven with Jesus. However, when we disciple a believer into a harvester, we begin to multiply our harevesting potential, which ultimately translates into more souls that are being brought to salvation.
Here are a few things that we can run toward in this amazing race.
a. Revival of Christian Awareness: Pray that the church wake up and see the need for us to bring in the harvest of unchurched people. We need to realize that if we don't go out there and get them, someone else will steal, kill and destroy them.
b. Revival of Discipleship: Relational evangelism should be followed-up with relational discipleship. In other words, our obligation doesn't stop at the altar. When we build a relationship with someone, share our testimony of the grace of God, and they respond in faith to salvation, we must then continue to build the relationship through discipleship. Teach them how to pray and study God's word. Hold them accountable to their new life. Help them come to a place of spiritual maturity.
c. Revival of Spiritual Gifts: Salvation is only on of the many supernatural gifts that God has blessed us with. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 14:1 "Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts." How eager are you for God to masifest his gifts in your life? When is the last time you prayed for the gifts of the Spirit to be evident in your services or gatherings? You have not because you ask not.
We are in serious need of more workers - harvesters that will run this race along side of us as we testify of God power and love. Pray for harvesters! Pray for revival! Pray that we do a better job of discipling new believers! Pray for the supernatural!
