To Be A Revolutionary
"This is the assigned moment for him to move into the center, while I slip off to the sidelines" (John 3:30).
To be a true revolutionary we need to not just know how to start a revolution, but how to sustain one. The only way to sustain a revolution is by putting Jesus center stage.
The first way that we put Jesus center stage is by dying to self. Jesus said in Matthew 5:3, "You're blessed when you're at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and His rule." So the best way to die to ourself is to fill up on Jesus. In fact, many times we struggle to overcome certain things in our lives and it's usually because we have to much of the world and not enough of God inside of us.
Paul was in prison for preaching the gosple when he penned the words "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21). He knew what it meant to die to self and put Jesus center stage.
Dying to self includes...
- humility (to bring yourself low)
- not accepting any glory
- not drawing attention to yourself
Are you willing to slip off to the sidelines and let Jesus be greater? A revolutionary is more concerned about the image of Christ than his own reputation.
The second way that we can put Jesus center stage is by preaching repentance and His soon return. Both John the Baptist and Jesus Christ preached the exact same revolutionary message, "Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near" (Matthew 3:2 & 4:17). They were telling people the honest life changing truth that we are all sinners headed for hell and need the love and grace of God provided for in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
A revolutionary puts Christ center stage by telling the world the truth about their sin and impending punishment while revealing the opportunity for forgiveness and eternal life.
He must become greater, I must become less.
A revolutionary has a forgiven past, a renewed mind, a believing heart, and lives a Holy Spirit empowered life that is eternally focused. Are you a revolutionary?
