Called
I don't know about you, but I love getting phone calls. Even if it's a telemarketer, I don't mind. I like to get them going, thinking that I'm buying into whatever it is they're selling, and then tell them I'm not interested. I love pulling a Jerry Seinfeld on them too. I'll ask them for their home phone number so that I could call them back later. They usually say, "Oh, I'm not able to give out my home number." I then reply, "You probably don't want to be bothered at home, huh?" "Something like that", they answer back. "Yeah, well neither do I." Then I hang up.
Seriously, I enjoy getting phone calls, especially when they are from friends and family. I love to hear how things are going and what's new in their lives. It's a great way to stay connected.
Tonight in our student gathering we're going to talk about how we have all been called by God. We're going to watch a short video about a 17 year old student named Daniel. He went to church camp when he was in eigth grade and he gave his heart to the Lord. He stayed in church and all but eventually other things became more important to him - in particular, golf. He got into other things eventually as well. He started hanging around the wrong crowd and doing drugs. In the back of his mind he remembered that week of summer camp and how God had reached out to him and called him.
We are going to look at three things that God calls us to.
1. Called Out of Darkness
2. Called Into Battle
3. Called to Witness
Daniel realized these three calls on his life and he'll never be the same. Will you? To get the bigger picture and hear how Daniel's life turned out, you'll have to come to the Revolution tonight at 7pm. See you tonight.
