To Watch or Not To Watch

I’m not sure about you, but the writer’s strike hasn’t bothered me all that much. I’ve enjoyed watching college and pro basketball as well as reruns of Star Trek. Hey, I like watching TV just as much as the next guy, but to be honest, there isn’t much worth watching these days. As Christians we have to be careful with what we watch, especially during prime time.

For the next three days I’m going to give my “review” of some of the prime time shows that have either recently premiered or are about to premiere on the three major networks of NBC, CBS and ABC.

NBC – National Broadcasting Company

NBC is by far my favorite of the three major networks. Their sports programming is less than desirable, but their prime time schedule carries some of the best programming on television. My must watch shows are Chuck, Heroes, Bionic Woman and The Apprentice!

The Good, the Bad & the Interesting

GOOD: My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad
The age-old question will finally be answered... Is My Dad Better Than Your Dad? Don't miss a moment of this action-packed family game show where dads battle it out in outrageous challenges and stunts. Whose dad is smarter? Faster? Stronger? Which dad knows his kids the best? You'll be in stitches when dads compete for money and neighborhood bragging rights. Premieres on Friday, February 18 @ 8pm.

BAD: Lipstick Jungle
Based on the best-selling book by Candace Bushnell, this sexy new drama follows three high-powered friends as they weather the ups and downs of lives lived at the top of their game. It’s pretty much a recreation of “Sex and the City” with new characters and more sex. Premieres on Thursday, Feb. 7 @ 10pm.

INTERESTING: Baby Borrowers
NBC's upcoming reality series "The Baby Borrowers" is an intriguing new social experiment based on the hit British program that asks five diverse teenage couples -- ages 18-20 -- to fast-track to adulthood by setting up a home, getting a job and becoming caring parents first to babies, toddlers, pre-teens and their pets, teenagers and senior citizens -- all over the course of three weeks. Premiere coming soon.

Worthy to Note: Knight Rider
This is a two-hour movie event, based on the iconic 1980's hit television series. In addition, David Hasselhoff -- who starred in the popular lead role as Michael Knight for four seasons during the original series' run -- returns as the same character during a special guest-star appearance.
As the original story resumes, the new KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand) is absolutely the coolest car ever created: its supercomputer capable of hacking almost any system; its weapons systems efficient; and its body -- thanks to its creator's work and nanotechnology -- is capable of actually shifting shape and color. Plus, its artificial intelligence makes it the ideal good cop partner: logical, precise and possessing infinite knowledge. It is the ultimate car -- and someone will be willing to do anything to obtain it. Sunday, Feb. 17, 9pm.

Will this movie event launch Knight Rider back into a prime time show like the Bionic Woman? One could only hope and pray.
